One thing that truly amazes me is the uncanny imagination our children have and the endless possibilities that accompany their ideas. My 4 year old came up with his birthday theme as you can see in this photo. As some of you know I decorate sculptured cakes for birthdays and weddings so it comes to no surprise that he would get a cake just as he asked for it. Although I provided this themed cake for my son I am limited in making and charging for any character that may be licensed. So for professional and personal integrity, I make these cakes exclusively just for my kids and not the general public. However, that's not saying that a mom shouldn't undertake this task themselves. To be quite honest making the Crabby Patty Burger cake that this marshmallow character is sitting on is very simple. Instead of sculpting a marshmallow character you could simply use a toy in its placement.
This pinata was made from a used cereal box. Simply used the facial features by printing it out of a coloring page and then cutting the face outline. If your truly ambitious you can use your die cutter instead as I had done below.
I used an svg. formatting software called Inkscape which is a free download on my personal computer. I then imported the cartoon from a jpg. to an svg. format by doing a pixel trace. Next I took the most prominent features from the cartoon trace and printed it on my printer, however you can bypass printing and just cut the trace out directly using a computerized die-cutting machine. Instructions for pinata seen above.
